David Dan Sembritzky, 47, a loving husband, father and brother, passed away at his home with his wife and close friends on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008. David had battled glioblastoma multiforme, a form of brain cancer, for 2 1/2 years.
David was born Nov. 28, 1960, in San Jose, Calif., to the late Gustave and Colleen Sembritzky. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1984 with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. Following graduation, David relocated to Dallas-Fort Worth to begin employment at Bell Helicopter Textron, where he worked for the next 22 years. David met his future wife, Sally Ohngren, at the Fort Worth Jingle Bell 5K in November 1994. They married in December 1996 and began their family with the birth of their first son, Garrett, in 1998. Two more sons followed, Jake in 2000 and Luke in 2005. David enjoyed sailing, biking, planting trees, composting and spending time with close friends. He was a leader, self-starter, and honest to a fault. Always working for the greater good, David was "green" before green was cool. Above all, David cherished his family and friends. We cherished him, too, and he will be sorely missed.

Andrew Guthrie was in my advisory in high school and he died in 79. I was pretty close to him but he was not very popular. I just wanted everyone to know that I didnt forget him.
He was a very nice guy. I think about him often.

I 'found' David and Sally late in 2008. We moved to Fort Worth in 1991 and never knew he was just across the county from me in Colleyville.
I was fortunate enough to visit him off and on as his condition would allow. Though his memory worsened, I was amazed at how he still was the Dave we all remember - still comfortable at being himself. We talked about some high school memories where possible and he always lit up when he remembered some of you.
I visited him about a week before his death. Though he had really gotten worse, he lit up when he saw me. I came over and hugged him and he gave me a kiss on the cheek - a memory I will always treasure.
My wife Diane and I attended his memorial get-together in Grapevine. His friends and co-workers share many stories and pictures. His legendary magic with the ladies apparently continued up to when he met Sally, as did his kindness.
I'd ask everyone to lift up Sally and the boys in their prayers.
